Huawei Commits as Global Host to Support the Work of the Internet Engineering Task Force

Support of the premier Internet standards development organization includes hosting three future meetings
Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, has made a multi-year commitment to support the work of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
As the Internet's premier open standards organization, specifications developed in the IETF are the foundation for services and technologies used across the global Internet. This multi-year commitment establishes Huawei as an IETF Global Host, the highest recognized level of support for the IETF.
"We are gratified to have Huawei join our cohort of IETF Global Hosts, who provide critical support for the IETF in its mission to make the Internet work better," said Alissa Cooper, Chair of the IETF. "As the world faces new challenges that make the Internet ever more important to our daily lives, the IETF continues to advance network security and privacy, redesign transport technologies, enhance automated network management, and enable Internet of Things connectivity."

Becoming an IETF Global Host significantly extends Huawei's long-standing support for the IETF. For more than 20 years, Huawei engineers have participated in the IETF’s large open community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers. This involvement has included serving as working group chairs, and as members of the Internet Engineering Steering Group and the Internet Architecture Board. As part of the IETF community, Huawei engineers have contributed to numerous IETF specifications related to core and emerging protocols across a wide range of technical areas. Most recently, Huawei hosted the IETF 107 meeting, the first-ever virtual IETF meeting with more than 700 participants from around the world.
Over the past three decades, technical standards developed in the IETF have formed the foundation for online services and capabilities used by billions of people around the world every day. These capabilities include Internet routing, online security, the Web, email, and domain names. As an IETF Global Host, Huawei will have the opportunity to work more closely with the IETF community over multiple years.
Since its first meeting on January 16, 1986 in San Diego, California, the IETF has published more than 8000 documents that describe standards for the fundamental technologies and widely used services on today's global Internet.
